A little background
information.
There are pubs from just over a mile away one
in Thorpe Morieux and two in Cockfield and also a little Post
Office with some provisions and a Petrol Garage in the neighboring
village of Cockfield 2 miles away.
Lavenham, the charming little medieval market
town is just 3 miles away. Here you can discover the impressive
Church originally funded by the local wool and weaving industies,
and the famous Guildhall with it's fascinating museum. The
Guildhall has been used as a backdrop in the making of several
films and of course the whole town is crammed with wonderful half
timbered houses some leaning at precarious angles. You can spend
hours just wondering around the little side streets coming across
interesting details of architecture or history. Lavenham has a
great selection of pubs and restaurants dotted around the streets
interspersed with a myriad of interesting shops, there is an
excelent Baker with home made crusty loaves warm from the oven, an
excellent Butcher with properly hung meat and a selection of home
made pies plus tasty extras and Deli for the best wirecut cheeses,
local and further afield plus other delicasies as well as a nice
selection of fruit and veg and of course, for all your day to day
needs a CO-OP.
There are the small market towns of Sudbury
with Long Melford nearby to the South and Bury St Edmunds to the
North all about 7 miles away. All with local charm, lovely
historic architecture, great churches and pubs galore!
